Avon and Somerset removals

Going off to College

When a young adult leaves his home to go to college, it can be a cause for concern for parents. Going off to college means that one will be living in a student facility, away from the familiar furnishings of home. He will manage his own budget for food, lodging payments and other necessities. He will live in a bedroom with space sufficient only for himself or for two room-mates. Depending on the facility, each bedroom may or may not have an en-suite bathroom. If he prefers to stay in an off-campus student flat, then he can have his own kitchen.

Even if a student stays in a furnished flat, there are still some items that need to be transported from home. It is not advisable to bring too many things, as one cannot expect to have such a large area. So, a student should focus on bringing necessary things like clothes and gadgets, especially computers or laptops. Other items, such as kitchen utensils, household tools, coffee-maker machines and the like should be included, too. Bringing one's mattress and quilt from home will spare him the expense of buying new beddings. Favourite possessions like books can be brought, but one should not bring an entire huge collection.

As these items will not be too plenty, a student can hire one moving van for transporting his possessions. He should first make sure that he packs them well. Different types of removal boxes can protect items. For example, there are boxes specifically made for garments. They come with rods so that one can transport clothes without getting them creased. There are extra strong boxes for heavy items like books and appliances. It is good to label electronics with a tape that says "fragile" so they will be handled with extra care.
