Moving Sporting Gear Safely

For an athlete or sports enthusiast, a good piece of sports equipment is a huge investment. Often, a durable and attractive piece or set of sporting gear takes a person several months of saving up one's allowance or salary. It can be a set of gold clubs, a tennis racket or even a luxury chess set made of hand-carved rosewood or coated with brass. Huge, more expensive sporting gear can include PWCs (personal water craft), fishing boats, kayaks, bicycles and the like.

With all the monetary - and, often, sentimental - value attached to sporting equipment, it would be frustrating for them to get chipped or broken due to incorrect handling. So, athletes and sports hobbyists who need to transfer to a new home should be careful in choosing the right removal company.

It would be best to talk to the removal personnel at least a week before the move so that the company can prepare additional tools, if necessary. For example, a mover may utilise lifts, ramps and carriers for transporting PWCs, fishing boats, skis, snowmobiles and other types of sporting vessels.

For other types of gear, one should to take caution in packing them. There are several packing accessories that can protect items like clubs, rackets and other sporting tools. Trophies should be properly packaged, too. One can use bubble wrap and poly chips to absorb shock if ever the item falls or the moving van hits a bump in the road. Acid-free paper can be wrapped around an object to protect it from getting scratched. One can use corrugated cardboard to protect the edges of an item from getting chipped. With these tools, there will be less risks of damaging important and expensive sporting equipment.
